BEWARE

I was very happy when I bought my F series Navigation unit until it died during a Pioneer recommended upgrade.
Go to AVIC411 forum and you will see hundreds of others are stuck with dead F series Nav units.
Pioneer wants you to pay to have it removed, then shipped and tested on their schedule, which is backlogged by high demand.
Just warning you that this may be just the beginning of the expense of an F series unit.
When it works its good. When it doesn't ....

When this unit first came out a little over a year ago the price was definatly outrageous to even think about it at around $700. However being relatevely in the shadows of the big boys like Garmin, Magellan and Tom Tom Pioneer was forced to dramatically lower the price in order to stay in this market. I gotta say that this is the best GPS I have owned (previous garmin, magellan and navigon owner) by far. Before I continue with the review, the compact lovers may stop reading here because a huge 5.8" dispaly in an even bigger shell makes this quite a space hugger. However is space in not in issue with you then continue on. This thing is a loaded with features like blue tooth, video player, and anything else you can imagine. The only major feature that most GPS nowadays have is a FM transmitter which this unit lacks. The maps are georgeous, with great info on screen and 99% of the time it actually sends you in a right direction (can't say that about most other units). Another negative would be a long cold boot time, which could take around 15 - 20 seconds.
Overall this is the best bargain for around $200 you will ever find.

A bigger sreen makes all the difference...this allows for easy quick viewing while driving with the best 3D mode I've seen. Even others have commented on the clear large screen. Accuracy is has been spot on and once you figure out the controls the system is easy to use. my ITouch doesn't work with it...and that's my biggest complaint so far. Don't think this will solve all your problems but at the price I paid for a new unit $178 all-in it was worth it.

I have used this GPS on 3 separate trips in the past month, and the only problem I have found is the volume is very low, and I have followed the
makers directions, and it does not allow the sound to be "turned up" to
a level I can hear while moving.

If you persevere so well, this unit is yours. But if you persevere but your wife doesn't, she will beat the shxxx out of you and even curse you.
If you don't and your wife deoesn't either, please don't even see this ad.
Whatever the reviewers say in here is all correct. My personal opinion? this unit needs at least 1Ghz speed clock CPU processor. Otherwise, Pioneer will be toasted in hell by reviewers. And they should give out the newer firmware(now it's 2.0). We need 3.0 with bullet speed. People are complaining harder and harder after the price plunged (Because it's affordable now under $200 --- before? not many people could buy this unit, cuz it was eye popping expensive $699) If you call to Pioneer for Customer support, forget it! They will leave you at least 20 minutes holding your phone to start having conversation with the reps. This was my 2 cents.
