The 760 is great, but I do not like that my battery after 2 years only holds a charge for 10-15 minutes now and it is not user replaceable and costs $99 to have it shipped to Garmin to have it fixed even if I just want the battery replaced.
There are very few models that have user replaceable batteries such as the 8xx series which is more expensive, but I do not need voice recognition and they do not come with lifetime traffic included.

My prior unit was a Tom Tom which was stolen. This unit has never worked properly. I spent hours trying to have it "fixed" per customer service with new software, all to no avail. It takes 5-10 minutes to find a satellite and loses reception easily where my old Tom Tom found the satellite instantly and rarely lost reception. When customer service finally did agree I could have it serviced - under warranty, I had to pay for Fedex. I'll NEVER buy another Garmin product again. Rotten firm, rotten product, rotten service.

My wife and I took a cross country trip to Ohio and without the Nuvi we would more then likely still be trying to get there . Everything works as reviews said .The only thing that might be a plus would be more printed instructions . What comes with the Nuvi is fine for getting started but it has some many more apps that we found by trial and error , but maybe that adds to it . Would purchase another one positively .

I purchased this Garmin 760 4.3 inch GPS Navigator in August after borrowing a different model for a cross country road trip, which hooked us on the whole auto navigation concept. I chose the 760 based on other ratings, because it provided many of the features I wanted and the price was right. I have never used other brands, so I don't have any comparisons. The only minor complaints I have are some of the routes it chooses are not the most direct (specifically in Canada) and it is really slow to access the satellites in parts of the country (Northern California was the slowest). All in all, this is a handy tool to help navigate in areas you aren't familiar with...beats trying to read a map at night. It IS good to have a map with you as backup, though.

After being with someone who had GPS on their phone, I trying out a Nuvi in a rental car on my next trip. I was blown away with how easy it was to use (no instructions on use from rental place). I decided then that I was buying one for myself. I've used in on a dozen trips in the last 5 months and even some around my home town (small city) I am now in the process of buying more for family and friends for Xmas presents. I loved the real time traffic updates which I didn't know was activated till I was trying to get around Atlanta in rush hour traffic. It helped us find dinner in the middle of nowhere and even my technically challenged brother was able to get home from the family reunion without taking the interstate (12 hour x5 states). I love that it has bluetooth, but at times I have problems hearing my caller clearly. I uploaded songs to it for the back roads in the rental van (just am/fm) and really have no major complaints. The best part is the flexibility I have had in being able to use it any vehicle I am in.
