Charles Grisamore ( Flower Mound TX ) Got my Garmin 1490T today and went to Garmin website to register product and download updated firmware and maps. I was stunned to find that the unit had previously been registered. It appears that Amazon is selling used merchandise as new. This is on its way back to Amazon right now.
No criticism of the Garmin product intended, obviously I never got a chance to use it. What I have an issue with is selling refurbished or returned merchandise as new. I will buy this item elsewhere.

Firmware update fixed a minor voice glitch, but was done with ease.
Large screen is easy to see and has minimal glare in worst conditions.
Menu funtions are easy to use and intuitive.
Bluetooth is easy to connect and sounds great on either end of a call.
Over all has just the right amount of bells and lacks unecessary whisles.
No complaints here, and I have used many other brands and models of GPS devices.

S. Thompson ( Tennessee ) I bought this for my husband and for Christmas and he loved it except for one Big problem - - it periodically will not turn on or will turn off in the middle of use. I returned the unit to Car Toys (bought thru Amazon) and they sent me a replacement unit. It did the same thing within the 1st day of turning the unit on. I don't know if I rec'd the same unit back or a different one but to have the same problem twice is alarming. I finally opted to just get my money back and will buy another unit. If you pay $377 for a GPS you ant it to work. By the way, Car Toys was great to work with both times. They always answer the phone with very little waiting time and deliver what they promise. They didn't give me a hassle at all either time. Would definitely work with them again.
