This is a refurbished GPS. Refurbished generally means that the unit has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the navigator back to like new conditions. Some GPS may contain cosmetic blemishes. Garmin continues to build up its nüvi 7xx series portable GPS navigators with its nüvi 765T, which adds a number of handy routing and communication features to an already impressive list of specs, including a 4.3-inch widescreen display, text-to-speech capabilities, media player, and FM transmitter for transmitting audio--including directions and MP3 music and audiobooks--from the device to your car radio. I looked at pros and cons for this GPS and finialy got the 765T. I have a 360 Nuvi and have used both at the same time for a month now. I like the 765 better and gave the 360 to my daughter. I had no problems with the sound and really like the FM transmitter. Out west I have not seen interferance and I can up the volume easily. Both gave the same turns and the 765 gave a little more time to make the turn.I down loaded a New Mexico topo map and took it out in the woods---Great, I was impressed with it. Loved being able to load MP3s on it and have the turn directions come thru loud and clear. Easy to use controls are better than the 360.I really like being able to see elevation in the woods. I also like the quick fiding of satilites when hiking instead of stopping for 2-3 minutes as I had to do with the 360. Only thing it needs is a weather map in real time.

The unit appears to do everything I hoped it would, though I thought I was buying a new item instead of a refurbished unit. I could have ordered a refurb through [...]. I especially like the the MapSource feature which lets you plan complex routes with custom waypoints on your computer and transfer them to the GPS. I have to admit that I haven't figured out how to get the routes to appear in the GPS yet, only the custom waypoints, but that's a start.

This 765T is easy to set up and use. Maps are accurate and it gets you where you want to go. The only problem I have had is the 765T is a little slow to update itself while driving, especially if you have to vary from the planned route slightly. It seems so accurate that when you go even a few yards off route, like a minor detour for road repairs, it begins a recalculation and once or twice has given me incorrect vocal instructions then a few seconds later corrects itself again. This could be bad if you are coming into an unfamiliar intersection that might be under construction - the car gets ahead of the recalculation and you might miss a turn. The beauty of this GPS is that it can always recalculate again and get you back on track. Well worth the bucks.
