This GPS is easy to use and I have bought 3 in total, for myself and family. The 1st at Sam's club, the next 2 from Amazon.

The only problem this thing seems to have is when there is a service road running parallel to the highway, it often thinks that you are on that service road, and starts giving directions to get you back onto the highway. Not a big deal to me, but might bother some people.

It also likes to take you down the more major roads, but will recalculate your route after it realizes that you have something else in mind.

Overall it is very nice, locks onto the satellites quickly, and has a lot of nice features. Some of those features are; announcement of road names; auto dim ability for night driving that takes location, time, and date into account; and a detail graphic showing which lane(s) take you in the right direction.

OK, I read reviews here and I have a chance because this is my first GPS buy. First weeks I was excited with new possibilities which GPS gives you. Maybe 1st or 2nd week I would come here and put 5 stars but after real life test we ended up on 2.

After 2 months I simply realized that is not for me. It is slow. Search of places is also not practical at all... you can't do it with zip code, once I had zip code but not city name... also finding crossroads or places of interest by name is very slow and database is quite out of date. I even have ordered firmware update but it was the same. Here in New Jersey some shops built 2-3 years ago are not on the map. Another very big problem is places that take big territory like parks if you want to navigate to different point lets say from one side is lake, from the other sports center and 3rd is simply park and there are all 3 listed with the same name but different type it is going to navigate you to the first record in their database regardless of your selection of object type and it may be miles away and not possible to get easy from one to another place.

Another very critical mistakes are turns. Several times navigation signaled me to turn left or sharp left on the place 'no left turn'. OK, after first experience like that I stopped to trust navigation at all... unfortunately my wife do not have such a good orientation and she relay on the navigation much more so it was very dangerous to use it. Advice, use it with caution is best thing I can say you.

Another issue is it does not detect track in which your vehicle is... OK it is not 'big' sin but if I come from one direction 15 min ago and want to go home it suggests me to go in opposite way and I cannot turn because of full line... I start to go in opposite direction but it will not recalculate or it will suggest some funny turns where is impossible to make U turn.

OK Now we will give a try to Garmin and I will write review again and update this one too. First things I have checked is search and speed and it looks easier to use and finds places faster. Well, let's see.

May have good features but it is EXTREMELY fragile. Some over paid VP decided to place a micro thin piece of glass as a cover for the screen it breaks buy light handling. I bought 2 at once and both were broken with in 2 months.

Since this one was actually cheaper than the 3.5 inch model, I chose the 4.3 inch Widescreen. My only complaint is that is always uses toll and/or major interstates eventhough a side street would be shorter. Also, don't expect it to work in large parking lots. The optional traffic alert feature is well worth the $120.00 for a whole year rather than the $50.00 per month price. Anytime this gps drops below $100.00 buy it!

It is my best purchase of recent months. I like it very much becase it is very accurate, quick calculating and recalculating rout, friendly screen and simple menu. Great customer service from Sony !Bought this unit with old firmware version, Sony offered newest firmware update plus 2009 maps update. This gps is far superior to Garmin that I tried before. The only drawback is short battery life, a little bit over an hour. I would STRONGLY recommend to buy this product.
