I Purchased the product in January 2010. It seems to work fine. However I did encounter a few flaws: When you reach your destination you are not told if its on the right or left. Also I question the accuracy of the display. When I drove from Ukiah Ca, to San Francisco the Mileage displayed 176 when it should have been more like 113. All in all its a good product and the customer support is very good.

In mexico, we do not have traffic advisory system, so it's the best option for your money! big screen and easy of use

This was a Christmas gift to my husband, and he has really enjoyed it. It makes going to new places less stressful.

Just got my XXL 540s and it seems really nice so far. Instructions are a little too simplified but I've discovered that the circular suction cup mount snaps off. THEN you can see the lock/unlock mode of the suction cup via the rotating ring. The suction cup holds well so far and the little plastic disk included is for your dash and not windshields.

Finding a case for the large 5 inch screen has been a little challenging. After searching around I think I've found one. Case Logic (model PHDC1 avaiable on Amazon for about 12 dollars -as of this writing and Best Buy for about 20 dollars) fits really well. This is a portable HD case but works well with the Tomtom 540s XXL GPS. If you leave the suction mount on the unit it will fit. If you snap it off and leave on your car windshield, you can fit the unit and the USB cable all together. The 12v cable is another matter. At that point a larger (but for me less desirable) case is needed.

I am very pleased so far with the Tomtom.

This is my second TomTom, the first being the One model. I bought the XXL 540 for the big screen and lane guidance. I am very pleased with it. Large clear screen, solid build quality, and super simple to use right out of the box. It even receives a good signal in my house and office. My Garmin (I have several GPS units) can't do that. One downside was that I could not add this unit to my current TomTom Home account, it must have have it's own new account with a new email address. No big deal. Instantly updated itself and I was able to use the latest map guarantee with no trouble. The program did all the work, although the new map downloads very slowly even on broadband. BUT, then I tried to sign up for TomTom's map update service; a full year of map updates (four) for one reduced price. A good deal for sure, but TomTom's checkout process is lacking as usual. I have not been able to complete checkout for two days now. I receive an error message describing some type of server problem on TomTom's end. Customer service told me to disable my account and create a new one....same problem. I called and they even created the account for me....same problem. Then I was told that they are aware of the checkout process problems and that they are working on a fix. Just wait awhile (how long?) and try again. Others are having the same problem, so I will wait and keep trying. But, the unit is great and I would buy it again. I just wish it wasn't backed by such poor support. Five stars because I'm reviewing the unit, not the company. And when I finally get my update service, all will be good.
