Have had it for 2 weeks and so far, it's great! Its touch screen is nice and easy to use; it has a lot of features, including being able to sync to over 200 phones for the Bluetooth wireless; although the max volume could be a little louder. Overall, this is a great GPS for an affordable price (if on sale).

I received the TN30 as a gift in December 2008. I actually like how the unit works but there is slight learning curve to using it. I had to update the software and it works fine. Motorola did not let me know about the update, I just started poking around their support web site and found it. The maps are dated. Mine are from 2007! I called Motorola this January 2010 and there still are no updates! How can this be! When pressed on the issue, Motorola would only merely state that there were no updates at this time. No indication of when they I could expect them and not even an offer to alert me when the updates are available. They simply told me to keep checking their web site to see when the maps are available. It's a shame that Motorola is doing business this way. I do not recommend anyone to purchase this product.

Interesting little GPS unit. Motorola does not appear to spend much money marketing it, and it doesn't appear in anyone's list of commonly purchased devices. A blistering review from CNET, the only one that I can find (a sad commentary in itself) probably doomed its market share.

What the CNET review did say is that it was buggy, and that the software malfunctioned and required a reset frequently. If you would expect Motorola to be all over this issue, to come up with a fix, to inform the customer and prospective customers about it - you would be wrong. Nothing about it on the Motorola website at all, and the website itself is incomplete, and completely geared towards Motorola's cellphone market.

In fact there has been a software update, but no way to know how many and when they were released. And it is not easy to install this update if you are not a techie. But it does appear to work, and the problems that CNET describes were not apparent.

What sets this GPS apart from others?
- Nice wide screen, with easy to read display
- Very nice graphics - seems like higher resolution and more elegant than other interfaces.
- Nice looking case, nice mount which is easy to manipulate
- Text to voice appears to work well, thought I usually mute mine.
- Fast to grab the satellite, fast to calculate a route, accurate routing
- Big deal!: Takes the time from the satellite signal, and automatically sets day or night view based on the time and date. (my tom tom has a manual clock, and you have to do the day/night thing yourself)
- Power on and off automatically with the power supply
- Bluetooth works great, and signal is clear.
- great feature where you can click on any point on the map, say "take me there" or "save this address"
- maps seem up to date

Weaknesses:
- After you install the new software, it will no longer store your home address. No way to fix, nothing on the website about this, customer support is useless. Confirmed this error on 2 separate devices.
- Cannot store favorite phone numbers
- Cannot see time, arrival time, speed at the same time.
- no PC software, updates hard to install
- Appears that Motorola just doesn't care enough about this product.

Overall, a surprisingly good GPS unit. 4 stars.
