I had this model for a couple of years and, in general, I think this is a decent product. It gets me where I need to go with only a few boring. Some general comments, good, bad and indifferent:

1. sometimes it takes a few minutes to lock onto a satellite, but once found, I've never had a problem with the connection stability.
2. The ETA calculation definitely does NOT take traffic lights into consideration. It's only accurate if you are staying on the highway (not considering traffic of course), but if you're driving through a city, you'll have to add a buffer for stop lights yourself.
3. it seems as though the database of businesses isn't always accurate. once I was literally in front of a QT gas station, and it told me the nearest gas station was a few miles away.
4. I'm not sure how the routes are calculated - I'm one of those people who uses Google Maps a lot, including for directions, so I often compare the suggested routes between the Garmin and Google, and many times, they are different - sometimes VERY different.
5. the buttons to enter letters/numbers are too small to type quickly, if you're not very precise with your typing, you will consistently have to hit the erase button to correct mistakes.
6. the battery life isn't great, at the most I may get a couple hours before needing to recharge. and the constant "low battery" warnings are amazingly annoying, but I just updated the firmware which I believe has a patch so this may have been fixed. But I can't imagine that any GPS system has great battery life, given the constant drain of satellite communication.
7. after a few years, it seems that the touchscreen has lost sensitivity - I have to press a little harder than I used to in order for it to register my input

This is the only GPS unit I've ever owned, so I can't compare it with TomTom or Magellan or those other brands, or even other Garmin units.

I could not live without it. I have done much research on this unit before I bought it and then I knew that I was. The common theme is to take some pain to find the satellite (the thought is not a problem) and could be a bit more intuitive to set up the address information (I agree, but in reality is not so bad ). The main reason I bought this unit was for my bike, this unit has a voice and an MP3 connector to connect to my stereo with the bike and not look down. Great job.

So this was the first GPS that I bought before. I bought some time before a big trip I was taking in the northeast United States (Madison, WI), so I could get used to it. Once I was traveling and not getting lost and to discuss with family members about where we were once (unlike most travel all the others), so it was a great advantage. I like being able to add waypoints when I disagree with the path that gives you. Moreover, the arrival time is pretty amazing, 3 hours travel by road and his back in a minute or two at the right time. Only traffic or red lights that seem safer. It 'was very helpful when deciding if we had time to do it for a party of 3 hours away, one day, we had only 10 minutes late, and the device told us 3 hours before.

A couple I had dull in the East was when I decided to walk around NYC, I had a very particular I wanted to take the highway to get around, and even after the addition of a number of crossing points is seemed sufficient to activate the path planning in circles and it was really messed up, I ended up having to use only as a "where I am, what a nice old man in the street map that I wanted to take. I think when your in a big city, there are just too many roads for their programming to decide if you want to change everything, his pain increased. Moreover, for some reason, going around Buffalo, which lost sattellite signs for a couple of hours, and I ended up having to take the battery and putting back to restart and get the return signal. I do not know what it was, that only happened once.

But in addition, it was great. Very useful at night when you're in town do not know and are trying to find a place to eat your hotel or 15 miles away, in the suburbs and not know where you're going. Normal atlases and maps of the state will not have any maps of the country, and not just have them all, but tells you exactly when to turn and how long for your next turn.

This is my Garmin GPS 2nd after one was stolen. Overall, I like it because they are geographically inept and makes everything easier. There are several features that I need, but learned to use and now appreciate, such as: Bluetooth ... so I can connect it to my phone and talk hands-free, easy to use - I learned how to load music, books on tape, photos, etc. to it from various sources, at any time, odometer/speed/compass/travel time, etc. I have not used any other brand of GPS, I do not know how you compare. The disadvantage is the length of time needed to acquire the satellite, at times, and routing. I'm not always guided by the shortest route and smarter for my destination, keeping the maps updated on [...]. Another downside would be the time for a fully charged battery lasts Garmin ... not very long.

All-in-all, my Garmin has helped me more than I was disappointed and I am very satisfied and recommend it to anyone in the market for a good GPS.

My wife thought of buying another toy until he had to use one day. His attitude changed immediately, especially when he was able to easily navigate through unfamiliar territory and not get lost.

With the purchase of this cool little device, be sure to connect the computer and update the maps of all .... Free Garmin. The voices leave much to be desired. I use Emily from England, because it is understandable. Jill of USA sounds like a "Valley Girl", and that will only get you lost! I love the widescreen and full functionality. A good product that you want to use.
