I have done research on Garmin and Tom Tom and I bought my girlfriend a Garmin. It works very well and is simple. My father has a Tom Tom and my sister loves him and has a Gramine and she said that my father liked Tom better. Best Buy pushes Garmin, as the company's shares. They were the reason I bought my girlfriend her Garmin. After examining everything and play with my father, Tom, but I decided a Tom Tom Go 730. I love love love and this unit is much better than my friends Garmin.

One of the things that I like the house in which TomTom you can customize what you put on your Tom Tom, beyond just the basics. I've seen reviews that say that the Tom Tom is not friendly. Garmin has more options, but you can choose to simplify the menu and will take the resources so that the menu looks like a very nice Garmin may change again if you like the course. Takes satellites quickly put the Garmin and redirects too fast. I like the track orientation for me is very useful when you need one on the interstate track.

A great feature of this unit is that you can make corrections and send them to other users of Tom is not possible with the Garmin. If you want to be able to personalize your TomTom GPS is for you. I read that Tom Tom POI's are not good. Please, when you go to the home of Tom Tom, you can download what you want THEN 1,000 's of them. I was amazed how many POIs that are on your site. Of course that comes with the POI that are already too, but you can add more than one place, using the house Tom Tom.

I noticed that the screen fades in the sun and that is the only problem I saw with my unit. You can still see direct sunlight, but is made lighter. The windshield acts as a champion very much and have not had any problem with it at all. The Bluetooth works very well too. I managed to connect my Iphone and my work Black Berry Curve on it. I can not receive messages on it with my work blackberry, but you can make calls and receive calls on both phones.

Warn a lot of distance and also speaks the street name as well. If you take the voices of famous people or other that the voices of the computer, I will not mention the name of the street will just say turn right or left, but to say that when you choose a voice computer is not online. Less if you want a great GPS, then this unit is for you and you can not go wrong getting a Tom Tom from my experience are no better than Garmin hands down.

I bought the TomTom 730 and am very disappointd the hill. It is impossible to put this in a good position in my vehicles. I bought a non-skid pad, but using the TomTom Mount is an act of total frustration. A design very poor.

The unit is quite good, but I am disappointed that the feature "full" with the characteristics of Bluetooth is limited to certain types of phone. There are phones that are compatible with their data services (eg real-time traffic, etc.), but unfortunately, the Palm Pre is not one of them. :-)

One annoyance is that it seems to show adjacent streets, when you are driving. If you are in navigation mode (where it is directing you back to a target-by-turn), will show the name of the street next to the next round on the right side of the screen. My old Garmin unit (which I replaced with this) that shows the next nearby street, where there was browsing (you are only traveling with the drive to tell where you are). If there really * is * a way to do this, I'd like to know how to activate the function.

Another annoyance is that the Bluetooth profile for the part that connects to your phone to let you make hands-free through the GPS has a profile on him, which supports streaming stereo audio. This is unfortunate, because it is a stereo FM transmitter to play music that loads the unit your car stereo. I usually listen to streaming audio on my phone (via Internet) as a unit, and if the GPS had a profile that supports Bluetooth, I would be able to use GPS as an FM transmitter to listen to my music the sound of Car Phone. Yes, this is not the purpose of the GPS, but since the drive is capable of playing music, it would be nice if you get stereo Bluetooth support (especially because one of the options for the production of music via Bluetooth Stereo is to make you send them that way).

Mostly I love driving, but has some distinct problems. Like all GPS units which could lead to the wrong place, but it seems to do better than some others I tried. My main problem is that the firmware has flaws that significantly affect the operation of devices. In my particular case, the device continues to restart and become, once you have it disabled. If I have understood is successful, the device will drain the battery completely. During the past year this has happened many times that the battery is almost dead. Couple this with the fact that the battery is not replaceable, and I have a hardware device has been severely damaged by its software. Tom-Tom recognizes that support is a problem with the firmware, but were unable to solve the problem and offer no support, since it is out of warranty.
